Hi, I got away with a friend to Island 22 on Monday. There was a lot of birds around. I found two life birds (Black-Throated Grey and Townsend Warbler). There was also Wilsons, American Gold Finch, Brown Creepers and Black Capped Chickadees (30+). Even though there was a horse event we still had a good afternoon. Sorry for the poor quality pictures. Birding was great, pictures......:-( Oh, well I guess I will have to go out again :-). We saw what I think is a Vireo but is it a Warbling? I am also wondering what this bird is (flycatcher?) Here is the list for the day: Eastern Kingbird Western Tanager Yellow Warbler (?) Black Throated Grey Warbler Black Capped Chickadee FlyCatcher (?) Spotted Tohee Cedar Waxwing Brown Creeper Townsend Warbler Downy Woodpecker Winter Wren Robin Turkey Vulture Wilson's Warbler Barn Swallow + other swallows(?) Osprey Vireo(?)

Good to hear you got out there Bill. I was kicking around there in the morning for a little pre-work birding myself but havnt had time to share yet.
Yes, that's a Warbling Vireo. The really pale face is a good clue. Red-eyed Vireo, which is also around, has more distinct markings on the face (gives a bit of a fierce look) whiter belly and is a little larger and elongated.
I think your flycatcher might be a Pacific-slope. It's hard to be certain if that's a yellowish look to the belly but the eyering looks fairly broad behind the eye.
Good work!

I agree that the flycatcher looks like a Pacific-sloped. However, I wonder about the possibilty of the vireo being a Cassin's. It appears to have more of an eye ring with the white extending over the bill giving the spectacled look. I would expect to see more of an eye-line if this were a Warbling Vireo. Also, the entire head appears to have more contrast from the rest of the body, suggestive more of Cassin's than Warbling Vireo.

Lynn, an excellent thought I didnt consider. Things I sort of notice is the dark cap contrasting with the rest of the head and that the eyering is broken behind the eye. You do have a point with what looks like a darker head though. hehe, if we could see the wings to see if they have bars, it would be easy (but not as much fun! )
