Thanks Brent, you are right! I saw the Glaucous Gull yesterday at Salish Pond again. And here is a picture to prove it . A Thayer's Gull was there as well. Thanks for the edit! Dave

Hello Gord
You can add Cackling Goose to the list. As I was looking over the list, I noticed that the Cooper's Hawk was not there. Also, where was the Greater White-fronted Goose seen?

Hey Gord Just read Wetlander's report from Feb. 3rd. He found some Wood Ducks. And now I know where the Greater White-fronted Goose was found. Jason

I don't see American Goldfinch on the list. I have a lot of them visiting my feeders every day.

This might make the rare bird list as well. An adult Swainson's Hawk....Intermediate coloration. Seen about 3 pm this afternoon on a telephone pole beside the Abbotsford Mission Highway. No doubt about the ID...the white face was very obvious as was the dark breast and rufous stomach. Unfortunately, with the traffic, couldn't stop and get a picture.

Kathy! I overlooked your posting! That is an incredible winter sighting that would be awesome to get documented. Not because I doubt what you saw (white face, rufous tummy is good fieldmarks!) but because something this huge deserves to be documented so it can get the proper recognition it deserves! Could you start a thread on the rare bird section with more details on where you saw it? Nice work on the owls Wetlander and Brent.

Hi, folks.
There was a California Gull in a mixed flock of Mews and Glaucous-wings on Matsqui Prairie today. I was really looking for the Swainson's Hawk, but found only Red-tails.

That's our 9th gull species of the month, Stan. Well done! Slaty-backed Gull would make an excellent 10th gull species, everyone . I still need that gull as a life bird, and I know there are others who need it as well.... Dave
