As well as the Savannah Sparrow on the back patio yesterday, were two beautiful male woodpeckers at Harrison Hot Springs on Jan.25th. Almost in front of the hotel along the promenade were a male Red-breasted Sapsucker and Hairy Woodpecker in a pine tree in which the sapsucker had created a series of fresh wells. The birds were extremely tame and quite unconcerned with all the human activity. It provided a pretty nice photo op as the birds were no more than 8 feet from the ground.
