As earlier noted, I was up the Canyon recently and stopped in at the Alexandra Bridge Provincial Park. I came across a singing Veery and further away caught one out in the open preening in the morning sun. I wonder how far south these guys go. I look back at my records for the Canyon area. As I spent much of my time there fairly young with dad fishing, some of my records need to take that into consideration. However, I have notes of Veery from Spuzzum Creek, Yale Creek and Emory Creek with the latter about 15 minutes out of Hope. I am beginning to wonder if perhaps I shouldnt have questioned my sightings as much! I also have one from the lower Skagit River from 2004 or so. Has anyone else ran into these guys? I know Thor birded the Canyon a little bit.

I think you may have made a bit of a discovery there Gord. I had no idea they were that close.

All the info Ive seen has them at Lytton being the closest.
However, this could not be typical and more of a fluke. We had a cold start to summer and perhaps they did not move as far north this year. It will be worthwhile to check next summer! As long as they sing, it's pretty easy to get them. Visually is possible, but just seeing them among the shrubs is the problem!
