I guess I'm just a devil for punishment, as I was only home from my long driving trip up north when I heard a hot report of a Flamm Owl in the Penticton area. This is the last of the Okanagan birds that I needed for my list so I have been very anxious to see one. Roy Arlt and myself, left the morning of the 11th and met the local contact person at 2:00. By 2:30 we had "up close and personal" views of the bird. Very intriguing looking bird and surprisingly tiny. Their deep Boot, Boot, call makes them sound much larger than they are. On the way home we stopped along the White Lake road and found a reported Sage Thrasher that was singing up a storm right by the roadside. It was a new B.C. bird for Roy's list.
So many birds, so little time!
