Sure is nice to have internet back after a couple days without it. Telus, while out doing some maintenance, somehow cut our line. My wife watched him work, noticed the phone and internet go dead, and then saw him drive away. He never did return as one might think he was about to do!! Anyway, I was at Island 22 for a little bit. Along the dyke at the main gate were three singing male Lazuli Buntings. At the other end of the park were another four males. Very easy to find and happily no need to go into the trees where 10,000 million mosquitoes wait (only 1,000 million on the dyke...). However, I did venture into the trees for a little bit and was glad I did so. Fairly early in I thought I heard a American Redstart a couple times. I finally got a good clear listen to it and was able to track it down (it was singing sporadically) and saw a first summer male flitting energetically about. Other than that, it was not overly busy in there. A family of Bullock's Orioles, and Downy Woodpeckers were entertaining. There were about four Red-eyed Vireos singing. On my way back to my vehicle I took a look behind me to view a very sobering sight of a cloud of mosquitoes following me. The mosquito repellent, as much as I dislike to use it, seemed to work well but I was quickly called attention to the little areas that I missed with the spray. Despite a few nips, none got away with a free meal. ;D ;D
