I have got a picture but I am not sure how to add it to this post.

Hi and welcome Mark! You give posting a photo a shot here by following the directions contained in this linkOr you can email it to me. My email can be found by locating my name next to this post, and then clicking the little email icon right under the little video of that gull stealing bags of potato chips. Look forward to seeing the photo and helping with an ID. (the email icon is one of the five displayed in two rows. It is the middle one of the three)

Hi Mark, you got it! I just had to add the [ img ] tags in front and behind and it popped right up. Nice work.
As to the bird, that's a male Western Tanager having a bath. Nice shot. How did you get close to him for a picture? My bathing birds always seem to end their bath when I come along.

Thanks once again. I look forward to posting more pictures. I usually spend my time on astrophotography but this was really fun. I found the Tanager by accident. I was really tracking a Mule Deer in Manning Park with my wife when I heard the splashing. I got two pictures before he headed for the trees. Looks like they are common around here yet I have never seen one before. My lucky day I guess. Got great pics of the deer too. Now I, we will be out again looking for more birds and hopefully they will fill my lens. Thanks again for your help. Mark
