I'm heading up to Kelowna/Westbank this weekend and should probably have 3-4hrs of time available to look for some intersting birds. Does anyyone have a suggestion on somewhere interesting to go and what I might look for? Thanks!

Hi Clarke, I recommend you try Roberts Lake and Glenmore landfill(aka Alki lake). There are nesting American Avocets as well as other shorebirds. You should also have time to drive up Beaver Lake road. Try this URL www.birding.bc.ca/regions/okanagan_valley/guide-kelowna.php for more info. Hope that helps. Stu H

Thanks for the suggestions Stu. I went and checked out Beaver Lake Road. It was raining slighly on Sunday morning so there wasn't much activity. I did stop long enough and I managed to snap a photo of a Northern Flicker. Our friends live in Oyama so next time we head up there I'm for sure going back to do that drive again. Cheers!
