Hi, This is my first post. I introduced a friend to birding today and he is now officially hooked!! All it took was a simple hike up Bridal Falls and finding a very noisy Winter Wren. Since he had a great time doing that we went to Cheam Lake. I FINALLY found my first Pileated Woodpecker. He did a nice fly by and then landed for a 30 second photo shoot and left. We also had a very cooperative Marsh Wren. Here are some pic's and the list: Robin Winter Wren Tree Swallow Varied Thrush Yellow Warbler Pied-Billed grebe Orange Crowned Warbler(?) Rufus Hummingbird Pileated Woodpecker Song Sparrow Northern Rough-winged Swallow Osprey Brown Creeper (?) Downy Woodpecker Common Yellowthroat Marsh Wren

Bill, welcome again. Great photos! I love that wren picture. Im hunting for a photo of the month and I think Ill be seeking permission! Seeing your Pileated Woodpecker (congrats on your first!) and the location it's in further makes me think they're nesting near by. That Varied Thrush is a good May record for Cheam Lake too.
