Hi everyone- Just an update on logging around echo lake above harrison river. David Hancock e-mailed today that a permit has been issued to log, although no date on when it could happen. As David said on the news- this is a major area where the eagles are roosting. Also he wanted to let people know that they hope to have a cam up and running on the chealis/harrison river flats on friday. The more people who see the # of eagles here on the cam- hopefully their will be more support to protect this area. His website is www.hancockwildlife.org . In the next week, i should have a letter and petition ready to sign in our stores- to send to victoria. Thanks Cliff Jury Backyard Birding Abbotsford & Chilliwack

Cliff: Murray Brown was telling me about this today when we were out there; unbelievable!!. Good on ya for starting a petition. I would also personally encourage people to write their MLA's. Looking forward to seeing the webcam. Thor

Cliff, thanks for the update and for the petition.
After giving thought, I was going to see about having petitions at your stores as well as spreading a few out to get signed and then collected. It is better to have them hand written than online even though I would have one available for those who could not sign one otherwise.
Let me know about getting a few copies to spread around. The more the merrier. Each signature counts for many more people. Im not sure what the current accepted number is, but the politicians consider each signature to represent 100 persons who did not sign the petition. One hundred signatures equals 100,000 people (or so) in their minds.
Letter writing, phone calls and face to face meeting increases the 'value' respectively.
I encourage everyone to at least write. It takes about five minutes and is free postage. It does not have to be long or contain facts or knowledge. Just state your opinion concisely and respectfully yet firmly.
I will be providing what I write to inspire or help others with any writer's block (I have letters on other issues Ill use to help with my writer block disease!)

Im going to be stopping by the Backyard Birding store to sign the petition.
Just a reminder to get in and sign it as well! I will talk with Cliff about getting a few copies circulated and returned so the batch can be sent in.
Of course, I encourage everyone to consider writing a short letter as well. Ill share names and addresses of who should receive a copy.

Hi Gord
My wife will have the petition's ready to sign in the stores for Saturday. She's doing two types:
1- Will be a letter with attached sheets for people to sign 2- She will do another one that people can sign and send in themselves
(I will print extra of the second one that you can take and pass around)
We are addressing these to Hon. Barry Penner- but we could probably send to Ministry of Tourism and Ministry Of Forests.
Thanks Cliff Backyard Birding
