Hi- Just wondering if any of you saw the interview on BCTV friday night with David Hancock on the Harrison River. Apparently their is a large block of old growth crown land beside the Harrison River/ Chealis estuary. A logging company did some surveying earlier this year- no permit has been applied for yet. David was saying that this block of crown land is where most of the eagles roost in the evening's. He expects up to 2000 eagles by January- making the harrison the largest wintering area in Canada for the eagles. Gord- How can we has a group of 88 members- possibly lobby goverment to look at protecting this area. I'm sure David Hancock would be on board. Goverment certainly always listens more to groups than individuals. Very Interested in trying to form some lobbying on this subject.
How do others feel?
Thanks Cliff Backyard Birding Stores

I would certainly send a letter to lobby for protection and certainly mention this birding group is very concerned. Getting feedback from members would help make that statement correct although it's probably safe to say that the feeling would be mutual among us.
That area is so unique it should certainly be protected.
I encourage people to take a minute to write. I will share my letter and who I send it to as well. Ill contact David for details.
Barry Penner will certainly be one. While there is certainly mixed feelings about him and the job he does, I have, in the past, had the opportunity to work with him on other issues. I feel that any and all letters will be received.
Perhaps a petition to go with my letter so the letter comes from the 'group'? Of course even if one signs a petition, a separate letter is VERY worthwhile.
I welcome any and all feedback as well as direction.
Thanks for bringing this to light Cliff!
