Boy, some days really are better than others, and as a birder this was a good one! After getting home from observing the beautiful, male Costa's Hummingbird with Thor, a bird I had unsuccessfully chased in Squamish a few years ago, [and missed by about 10 minutes], I looked out and there sitting on the fence was a Waxwing. My initial thought was "that is an unusually early, Cedar Waxwing" and then I noticed how large it seemed. At that point it turned and I clearly saw the rusty undertail coverts which made it the Bohemian, another yard bird. Then a neighbour called to say they had just returned from Harrison Hot Springs and had seen a blackbird with a yellow head, hanging around near the sandcastles. Although this is unconfirmed until I see their photos, the description makes it sound like the real deal. So after 3 days of watching my Cassin's Finch at the feeder, this was the icing on the cake!
