The fields around our place were ploughed recently bringing thousands of Mew Gulls to feed on the worm and other creatures uncovered by the work. Quite a sight!
Also here were a flock of about 30 American Pipits. (there's only one in the photo...dont want someone to spend/waste time trying to fine about 29 more!! ;D ;D )
Another Savannah Sparrow. These guys have been cooperative like the Yellow-rumped Warblers!
I then took a quick drive to the Vedder Canal as I saw lots of gulls flying there. The scene here was similar to the fields. 99% Mew Gulls but this time bathing and napping on the gravel bar.
There were also nine Greater Yellowlegs here.
Back home as we were going back into the house, the Mew Gulls got all upset and flew away in a big flock. I could hear the call of a raptor and guessed why. I got around the house in time to see a Peregrine Falcon bombing at a Bald Eagle. I surmise that the falcon had made a kill of one of the gulls but the eagle had taken it away. Too bad this did not happen while I was standing there not too long ago!! Would/could have made for an amazing photo.
Ok, Im caught up with my recent outings short as they were. Bedtime...the kid's birthday weekend sure tires daddy out. My ears are still ringing!!
