Hi all: It was a little slow at the Hope Airport today. The Townsend's Solitaires seem to have left there, although I still had one in the backyard yesterday. I see from WKBIRDS that they are starting to show up in the Kootenays. An American Kestrel, and several Turkey Vultures, as well as Savannah Sparrow were seen here today. After my run, I met Murray Brown at the Cheam Wetlands for a walk around the loop. Birds of note included a probable Hammond's Flycatcher, a Myrtle's Warbler, two Cliff Swallows, and a Common Yellowthroat. All birds out there today seemed to be behaving like flycatchers, sallying forth from perches catching a bug, and returning to the perch. Just walking around, it was obvious that there some major insect hatches going on. Other birds seen there today: Tree, Violet-Green, Northern Rough Wing, and Barn Swallow, American Coot, Green winged Teal, Mallard, Wood Duck, Canada Goose with goslings, American Robin, Red winged Blackbirds Audubon's Warlber, Rufous Hummingbird, Bald Eagle, Pine Siskin, and Alaskan Song Sparrow. Yesterday, I had Vaux's Swifts soaring over the Coquihalla River by my place. Cheers, Thor
