Manning Park July 14

We went for a family trip to Manning on Saturday. It was a bit warm but still a very enjoyable visit.

We popped in at Strawberry Flats. At the parking lot were quite a few Evening Grosbeaks and a pair of Pine Grosbeaks.

We struck off on the trail. Jamie paused for a few more minutes with the grosbeaks and was rewarded with a great look at a Three-toed Woodpecker.

Lots of butterflies including this comma species. Maybe a Green Comma?

We also visited the alpine meadows and walked the Paintbrush Trail

Not overly busy for birds, but there was a pair of Fox Sparrows of the slate-coloured subspecies.

It was nice to visit a new area. No bears or deer seen this trip unfortunately

Looks like a nice trip, I don't think I have ever seen an Edith's Checkerspot.
