We went for a family trip to Manning on Saturday. It was a bit warm but still a very enjoyable visit. We popped in at Strawberry Flats. At the parking lot were quite a few Evening Grosbeaks and a pair of Pine Grosbeaks. _0246646 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr _0246625 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr _0246618 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr _0246640 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr We struck off on the trail. Jamie paused for a few more minutes with the grosbeaks and was rewarded with a great look at a Three-toed Woodpecker. Checking out the sign Img_7685 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr A beautiful trail and nice and level Img_7686 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Lots of butterflies including this comma species. Maybe a Green Comma? _0246627 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr We also visited the alpine meadows and walked the Paintbrush Trail Lots of wildflowers out Img_7718 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Not overly busy for birds, but there was a pair of Fox Sparrows of the slate-coloured subspecies. _0246684 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Butterflies were abundant here as well. Got a photo of an Edith's Checkerspot _0246680 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr It was nice to visit a new area. No bears or deer seen this trip unfortunately

Looks like a nice trip, I don't think I have ever seen an Edith's Checkerspot.
