I did a long bike ride this morning. While not focused on birding I did manage a few sightings. Around Hope River, just near Fairfield Island, I had a small flock of Red Crossbills. I haven't encountered crossbills in months.
On the west side of the Vedder Canal Dyke there were two singing House Wrens. About three weeks ago I was on the other side of the canal and had three Hous Wrens singing. Good area for them.
Went by where I had encountered the Least Flycatcher yesterday and it wasn't singing today.
Had around 8 singing Lazuli Buntings on the ride and a couple of Chipping Sparrows. About a week ago while biking through Fairfield Island I heard at least 5 singing Chipping Sparrow. Seems to be increasing in numbers.
