I was at Mom and Dad's today and as alway enjoy seeing what is in the yard that I started my birding interest in years ago. They had no shortage of Evening Grosbeaks. I figure around 30 sunflower eating machines. Purple Finches numbered about 8 and were busy singing. Male Female This one was singing but it sure looks like a female! The song was pretty good too. I probably would not have gave it a second thought. There were two species of warbler. This Yellow-rumped stopped above my head before moving away, pausing to sing once. An Orange-crowned Warbler was moving through as well. You can sort of see the orange in the crown! As well were plenty of White-crowned Sparrows and a few House Finches and a single Red-winged Blackbird.
