At McGillvray's Slough, which is the north part of Dyke Crest Road along the Vedder Canal/Sumas River, I saw a Western Kingbird. Nice to see they're back. Also there was a Hammond's Flycatcher down low in the willows. Nice to see them on migration as when on breeding territory they seem dedicated to the higher branches. I also came across this young Great Horned Owl. I grabbed a few shots while it practiced its glare. _0245767 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr _0245771 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr

Today at my parent's house in Greendale, I saw a species I've never seen before growing up there. A Western Kingbird! It was at the top of a tall tree somewhere and we could hear it but not see it. It then flew heading north confirming my suspicions.
