Spring arrival week around our place, and a mini-fallout with the light rain of the last 2 days. Yellowlegs and Kildeer still about with GW Teals and a week ago a Cinnamon Teal drake hung in for a few days. 3 days ago spotted the first Rufous Hummer, and yesterday with the rain came the Yellow-rumped Warblers and an Orange-crowned Warbler. Oddly, had a Varied Thrush on the driveway this morning, usually a winter visiter here. Mid-morning the first flycatcher arrived. Very brown, no eye ring visible, just a hint of a vest, I'm guessing a Willow. 3 days ago Barn Swallows joined the VG and Tree Swallows that first arrived. Today the Cliff Swallows have arrived.

Kev, some good arrivals! A fun time of year. The flycatcher; Willows show up the last week of May usually almost exclusively. Flycatchers are tough. Hammond's, Dusky and Pacific-slope are the first to come.

Assumed a Willow due to lack of eye ring, but with photo I can see a bit of one... and yes, I have a devil of a time with flycatchers, unless they're calling. Got a photo this morning and fighting with Flickr to unpload. Finally worked. Can ID from this? thanks! flycatcherJPG by Kevin Jones, on Flickr

These guys are tough but that sure looks like willow/alder to me.
Any chance it's an alder migrating through?
Great job getting a photo!!!

Thanks, Randy! Should have guessed, Pewees and Willows are common here every summer.
