This morning, I made an early visit to Mill Lake Park in Abbotsford. On the east side of the park along the floating bridge I spotted 11 or 12 Ruddy Ducks feeding. At the other end of the bridge there was another flock of 10 or so. The 2nd flock slowly moved over to join the others and my rough count at that point was 20 maybe plus 1 or 2 they were diving. When I had walked around the lake I returned to the bridge and much of the flock was resting but I could clearly count 21 birds, all Ruddy Ducks. The males were getting more color in their plumage and their bills were starting to change to blue. 11 Ruddy Ducks and 1 Bufflehead 11 Ruddy Ducks plus one Bufflehead by Nick, on Flickr male changing color Ruddy Ducks by Nick, on Flickr
