Slightly warmer temperatures (ha!) and finally no wind prompted a visit to our favourite parks. Cheam Lake was frozen over and pretty quiet for birds. Lots of people out on the lake though. We did find a Virginia Rail tucked away. Hope it does ok. _0243925 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Over to the Great Blue Heron Reserve. We poked around the feeders mostly. A Wilson's Snipe flew overhead while we were here. The feeders were quite busy with at least eight Fox Sparrows, three White-throated Sparrows and so forth. A Merlin was perched in a tree nearby enjoying the sun and what looked like a full crop. _0243957 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Benny found a Ruby-crowned Kinglet in the Oregon grape shrubs along the interpretive shelter. An about as good as it gets slate-coloured Dark-eyed Junco _0243975 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr
