I spotted a couple oddities this morning in the rain at Fishtrap Creek Park in Abbotsford. There was a female Common Goldeneye in the water, not common but seen in the area, but following behind it were two odd ducks. They had the stripe across the beak like a Ring-necked Duck but they also had a stripe down their head like Blue-winged Teal, definite stripe, thick rather than thin. I did not have my camera with me, just bins. I assume they are some kind of a hybrid, more Teal shape that Ring-necked. This was between the pier like structure and the walkway that goes out to the island, just after 10:30 a.m.

Female Ring-necked Ducks can have quite the loght mark at the base of the bill. That could look similar to a Blue-winged Teal. Did you see if the ducks were diving or not?

No diving, they were just following the Golden-eye and swimming away from me. I did go the next day to take another look but no sign of them, likely just passing through or hiding in the reeds.
