This morning I went in to Home Depot for some shopping to fulfill the Honey Do list. Predicting success and showing utmost confidence in my handyman skills, I collected on the pending brownie points I would be earning with said imminent success and went for a walk along the riparian zone at the edge of the parking lot. The value of these habitats/corridors was evident with about 20 species noted including a nice flock of chickadees, Ruby-crowned Kinglets (still lots around) and two Orange-crowned Warblers. There may have been a third as I'm certain one I was looking at went left and I was hearing another to the right but I couldn't be sure the bird I saw didn't make a change in direction. Two was safe to say as they were spread apart and one was a more yellow 'Pacific' individual while the other could be an Interior population being more grey-headed. It's been a good late fall for Orange-crowned Warblers too. And yes, I aced the list at home.
