Did a walk at Willband this morning. The windy conditions likely caused a few of the smaller birds to go into hiding. However, I did see one Chestnut-backed Chickadee which is my first for the location. Even though I heard it, I wanted to get a visual. A lot of waterfowl were present. Quite a lot of Common Mergansers and a few Hooded. Hooded Merganser at Abbotsford--Willband Creek Park No Bittern but a couple of Herons Great Blue Heron at Abbotsford--Willband Creek Park I was surprised by the number of eaten duck carcasses. Counted at least 7.

Chris do you think the duck carcasses could have been ill birds from AI?

Tough to say. However, I did see one dead Mallard floating near the shore with no evidence of a predator. I didn't see any living birds with signs of AI.
