Went to Squamish this weekend with my wife to celebrate our anniversary and we found a chance to walk along the Squamish River near the Railway Museum. An artist in town told us there was a lot of bird activity where the Mamquam runs into the Squamish River and it turned out to be a good tip. The day wasn't incredibly birdy but two highlights for me were Barrows Goldeneye up close near the riverbank, and an American dipper. Also nice to see a Pacific Wren and a Hairy woodpecker. There were quite a few gulls as well. I didn't scan them too closely but they looked like Glaucous-winged and Short-billed for the most part. Next time we go to Squamish I will definitely try to bird this again. I'm curious what kind of birds to expect during spring migration.

I have never been up that way, but during migration, the Squamish estuary sometimes gets some rare birds and nice tally of species.
