A family walk on what was quite a nice afternoon weather-wise generated a few fun birds at the Blue Heron Nature Reserve. On the East Loop Trail we found a Blue-winged Teal _0232073 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr We also came across a flock of about 50 Pine Siskins in a Red Alder tree. Certainly a sign of things to come in that department. At the feeders there was a nice slate-coloured Dark-eyed Junco, White-throated Sparrow and a photogenic Fox Sparrow. Several Ruby-crowned Kinglets were about and we saw the female Greater Scaup again. One has to wonder if it's the same one as last year that wintered at the park. Yesterday at Island 22 I stumbled across a late Cassin's Vireo _0232052 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr
