Nice to greet September with some familiar faces we've not seen for a little bit. Early monrning at Hope Airport were a flock of 44 Horned Larks out on the runway. A late morning stop at Elk Mountain was shockingly busy. It must have been a migration fallout despite not really having the weather for it. There were at least 30 Townsend's Warbler being the most numerous. Orange-crowned numbered at least 15 with Wilson's, Yellow, Yellow-rumped, Black-throated Grey and a lone MacGillvray's rounding out the other warblers. There were even sparrows that were predominately White-crowned (80% juvenile) but also some Lincoln's Sparrow and my first fall Golden-crowned Sparrow. Joining the Golden-crowned for the fall's first, there was also a Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Skulking around in the slash was a House Wren. Overhead two Horned Larks flew past. A Cassin's Vireo was still singing. Golden-crowned Sparrow _0231041 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Part of the flock of Horned Larks _0231028 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr

Nice! Interesting that you mention the sparrows including many juvenile white-crowns and some Lincoln's - I was out birding late morning today (in Aldergrove) and noticed the same thing. Also lots of Orange-crowned warblers.
