Just letting you all know that we found a Harris's Sparrow this morning on the White Rock CBC. The location is just off 8th Avenue in south Surrey, a couple of kilometres east of Highway 15. From 8th Avenue turn south on 188th Street and there is a place to pull off the road in front of two concrete silos around 100 metres south of 8th Ave. Just ahead on the right is a long hedgerow of brambles along the fence with several coniferous trees.
The Harris's Sparrow was hanging out with a flock of White-crowned Sparrows, feeding on the edge of the road, and they would fly up into the brambles or trees, or out on to the farm field behind the fence. It was seen again at the same location in the afternoon.
Other possible places to look for the flock would be the run-down yard on the SE corner of 8th and 188th, and along the hedgerows further south along 188th.
Good luck to anyone going to look for it.
Stan
