Great photos, Jamie
Arden thanks for the updates as well. Too bad no luck. It would have been interesting to know if it was there this evening for the night again.

I did a quick check at Sardis Pond. No luck but there was a lone minima Cackling Goose on the pond. Last I saw of the Ross's is it was with what looked more to be a Travener's Cackling Goose.
Driving past the field on Evans/Sumas Central no geese at all were seen.

Stopped by between places and it is back at Sardis Pond. Good chance it will be here for a little bit up to evening.

Thanks! Those turned out nicer than mine. It was nice to get Benny a chance to see it up close.

Thanks graeme45. I took that as a challenge after reading it at 8PM and went to look for it. But as per usual, my luck held out and I did not see it. But all was not lost, I did my due diligence, and after sitting on a bench for a while, I walked slowly around the pond and fed the hoards of mosquitoes some of my sap, as I glanced back at the pond when I heard noises. When karma says it is time, it will happen. ;-) Klaus

Found it along Sumas Central Road, this morning, before it flew off towards Sardis Pond with its Cackler friends. Ross's goose by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr

We spotted it from Evans Road at 6:00 this evening and it was still there at 8:30 in the fading light. Almost certain that it has returned to Sardis Pond for the night. Really neat to see this little guy on our daily travels. "Oh look, there's the Ross's Goose again" is not something we'd ever expect to say. I hadn't a chance to share more fun stories from this goose, but probably the best is Raymond's experience. He came for a look and had just missed it flying out on Friday morning from Sardis Pond. He was in the flyway from the pond to Sumas Central fields and had pulled over to see the flock, including the Ross's, flying towards him. He watched them come and saw the Ross's poop. With admirable accuracy, the poop hit his car. Now what are the odds of that on any day from any species (odds which, naturally, goes up within the first hour after washing your car) but to have a pretty rare bird do it? Wow! I saw the results myself when we met up at the field. Raymond can't wash his car now. Raymond showed me his mirrorless camera and 800mm lens. For the same reasons I'm hesitant to let me kids play with puppies, I shouldn't check out new cameras and the likes. Anyway, within a minute the geese flew a bit and with instinct and urging from Raymond, I took a few shots. The results I never thought I could get at such the range it was and with a camera I've never used before handheld. Woah. Thanks! DSC_0810 CCAP by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr

Day 5 of the “it will likely leave tonight” Ross’s Goose. Saw it on Sumas Central this morning at 7am.
