Did a bit of birding this evening A pause at Banford Road south of Prairie Central was worthwhile. A pair of Lapland Longspurs few past quite low over the field. Happily they called or I would not have looked in the right direction. The male's breeding colours were coming in nicely. Two flocks of Black-bellied Plovers flew over numbering 42 and 53 birds respectively. They didn't seem to land and were moving along heading east. Western Meadowlarks were singing which was nice to hear. _0238013 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Up to Columbia Valley next. More White-crowned and Savannah Sparrows singing from my last visit. A lone female Mountain Bluebird was at the corner of Henderson and Columbia Valley Roads. Flying high over Vedder Mountain was a young Golden Eagle. This has been a good winter for me for Golden Eagles. I'd have to look but I think I've come across 7-8 which is abnormal. _0238130 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Spring migration is great and lots more to come.
