The Whooper Swan was the clear winner this past year by a definitive margin. In fact, one third of all votes went to this Eurasian visitor.
Thirteen other birds were voted for this year, which is much more varied than usual. I think that for those who didn't get on the Swan bandwagon there were many long-awaited nemesis birds that were finally seen this year.
2) Prothonotary Warbler
3) Red-shouldered Hawk
4) Sedge Wren
5) Black-capped Chickadee
2023 is already off to a good start with Kelowna's Fieldfare and Victoria's somewhat out of place Horned Puffin. I'm personally hoping for an Ostrich in BC this year with 10 and 1/2 months to go time is on my side......
Thanks for playing.
