Wednesday, January 2 – a full day in the desert. We hike Hellhole Canyon and found similar birds plus Ladder-backed Woodpecker. More California Gnatcatchers as well Thursday, January 3 – We traveled to Joshua Tree National Park. I had never been here before, and the scenery was incredible. Joshua Trees look like something from Dr. Seuss (for those with kids or good memories from when they were kids) and the rock formations are awesome. Here is a picture of our campsite. And sunset. Rock Wren, Bewick’s Wren, House Wren, White-throated Swift, Phainopepla, Etc…. Friday, January 4 – We started for home through some pretty interesting California weather. Dust storms, high winds, snow, rain, closed interstate highways, and everything between. That is all, Dave
