Took a drive to Seabird Island yesterday and spent aa couple hours on the Chaplin Road Wetlands as well as the slough along Seabird island Road. It is about 90% ice free. Turned out to be a real mecca for Common Mergansers, seeing almost 4 dozen in total. Many bufflehead, mallards, and Bald eagles. Not many song birds, sparrows or finches. Saw 2 belted king fishers and a couple GB herons. All in all a good day. I am not seeing many reports coming out of Willband Creek. Before I make the trek down to Abbotsford I am wondering if anyone has been recently and is there much open water?

Lovely photos.
I was at Willband last week and it was very flooded. It's probably not clear yet but I haven't checked.

I am not seeing many reports coming out of Willband Creek. Before I make the trek down to Abbotsford I am wondering if anyone has been recently and is there much open water? Wilband was open Friday. I don't think it has rained enough to flood again but who knows how much rain we get tonight.

Thanks much for the info. Here I'm thinking Frozen because Cheam Lake is frozen and I should have thinking flooded. I appreciate the first hand reporting.
