Today along the Vedder River at the east end of Browne Creek Wetlands were a pair of White-winged Crossbills in a fir. A little later that morning I saw them briefly in an alder along the pond. Perhaps we're in for some winter finches as Ken and Ed both have seen Cassin's Finch as well which is not regular west of Manning for the Fraser Valley. There's a fair bit of construction taking place in the area so not sure how access is although the trail system along the river is open.
From the new development at the south end of the Vedder Bridge a good view can be had of the gulls that come for a bath and drink before heading back to the dump. Mixed in with a solid thousand gulls was a third cycle Glaucous Gull. Some are close to the parking lot for binoculars but a scope is ideal to get the best view.
