We were doing some shopping with family in Vancouver saturday, and stoll away for a few minutes to quickly circle the seawall (in the car). It was cold, but still saw lots and lots of Surf Scoters and Barrow's Goldeneye. Wow! We hunted for an Eider, but none to be seen. From memory, We saw at Stanley Park: Surf Scoter 1000 Barrow's Goldeneye 100 Glaucous-winged Gull 100 Bufflehead 20 Common Loon 3 Black Oystercatcher 8 Thor Manson 1 Common Merganser 10 That was about it, I think..... Here are two pics,

Glad to hear that you saw at least one --(1) Thor Manson---rare bird indeed!!! ;D--wonders that you did not see any Canvasbacks in the near distance --even more disturbing that there were no Eiders in the area!!!--LOL
