This might be far enough west that it won't affect some of you much, but the city of Abbotsford just sent my family a notice that they are planning on developing the open field north of Fraser Hwy and west of Lefeuvre Rd into a park. Some work has already been done - looks like they widened a channel coming off of Bertrand Creek and planted some trees. Now they are asking for input about what amenities the park should include. If you live in Abbotsford you have the opportunity to weigh in online.
As a birder I am selfishly hoping they convert very little of the land into sports facilities or a dog park, because I can walk there from my house and sometimes get surprise sightings, like a lazuli bunting this summer. It's not exactly premier birding because there is currently no access to the creek, but it has some potential. Depends how it's developed. In any case, if you live in Abbotsford you have a chance to ask questions and propose ideas until Nov 11.

Where and how would we weigh in on this with the city?

The website given was simply www.abbotsford.ca, which is the home page for the city of Abbotsford. From there you click the "Let's Talk" button, which takes you to an option to Sign Up to Speak Up, and under that there is a list of projects including Engineer Park.
