Tuesday morning was looking quite pleasant in Abbotsford, so I decided to take the day off work and head out birding. My first stop was Serpentine Fen, as I'd heard there was a Great Egret out there. Unfortunately when I arrived, the fog was pretty thick, making for crummy shooting conditions. The egret was still around, and I managed this one half-decent shot It was at the pond closest to King George Hwy, and one can stand in the parking area there and look out at it. It flew to a different side of the pond, but I couldn't get a fast enough shutter speed for a better shot than this kind of blurry one. it was still nice to add a new bird to my lifelist. As far as other birds, there were several Great Blue Herons a few Red-winged Blackbirds, plus lots of Double-crested Cormorants, various gulls (I'll have to work on my gull id's soon!) mallards, American Wigeon, and probably several others that I've since forgotten. Since the weather decided to rapidly deteriorate, the rest of my birding outing (Boundary Bay and Blackie Spit) was cut short, and yielded no decent photos.
