Yesterday morning I came across a tan morph White-throated Sparrow at the west end of the park. A bit of a surprise given my earliest is around September 6 and usually any fall migrants are a later September deal.
Quick catch up; on Sunday the Blue Heron Reserve was a bit quiet but we did find a flock of migrants at the south end of the lagoon. In there was Benny's lifer American Redstart. A nice male a great way to see one's first! Saturday at Cheam Lake something had scared up the ducks from the east bit of the lake. Among them was a Lesser Yellowlegs. Not a common one for us and being first for the park for me it was polite enough to vocalize and let me see it as it passed to confirm it was more of a Solitary Sandpiper sized guy and matched the call.
Happy fall birding all. Can't wait to see about 10 degrees knocked off the forecast.
