Hi Everyone, I am a longtime friend of the group but a newly signed up member. I live on Vancouver Island and probably won't post too much here but I thought since I had such a good day today I would share with you folks. Since birds move at the same time maybe my sightings might help folks your way find the same species. It is cool that Gord often will see the same birds as I do and almost to the day! So anyhow today I found an immature Harris's Sparrow near Sooke at the Goodridge Peninsula. Neat bird in the area! I later found 3 Cackling Geese and an immature Snow Goose with a large flock of Canada Geese. The Snow is a rare bird over here. I think it would almost be the same as finding a Brant your way. I finished the day with a spectacular highlight a juvenile Sharp-tailed Sandpiper at Whiffin Spit. I got many pictures! I think this is the first one in this spot for around 11 years! It sure was a fun day. Look forward to chating with you folks in the future. Good Birding! Birdman

Welcome to the group Birdman. Always interesting to receive birding reports from other areas on this site, and you certainly found some interesting ones yesterday. Looking forward to more. Cheers, Thor

Welcome Birdman! Great bird sightings! Look forward to hearing about what you're seeing or to have your participation in general. Like you said, even though you're further away, it's neat to hear what's around. This fall was a good example as I think we saw several similar species if I remember right!
