Bentley’s great birding acumen shows up again. The question mark on the recent Black Phoebe report was accurate! While looking at dragonflies and so forth at the water control structure, which is about 100m down the trail to the floating walkway, I spied a bird hunting down low flying out from a perch to get dragonflies that raised an eyebrow. I had my scope for checking the lake so Benny and I got nice looks at it. It was silent today but bobbing the tail. It’s an adult in molt and looks very rugged. These greenish flycatcher family birds can be confusing to say the least but a big white patch on the head of what looks like pin feathers stands out to help those less familiar. I’ll post some photos shortly
Jamie is there and he has seen it as well just now. A great bird for the Fraser Valley and second record only I believe.

I'm glad you relocated to confirm it! Now I'm just hoping a Black Phoebe shows up, so I can complete the trifecta

Great record for the area. Hopefully, it sticks around for a while.

Took a quick look this morning but didn’t find it. It was not an extensive look though. Ken and Ed are going to try as well as I was leaving.

Ed had to leave before Me, it was another half hour before it made an appearance. Landed in a tree on the north side of the path across from the outflow, flew off to the north.

It was seen as well mid-afternoon in the same general area of the overflow structure.

The Eastern Phoebe continues at the same location this Tuesday morning. 7 or 8 birders just had decent looks.

Have checked for it the last few days with no luck. They were not long nor extensive looks mind you. It could well be around there’s lots of habitat.
