I am mostly a morning bird photographer but I had other things to deal with this morning and the light this afternoon still was decent. I wanted to check up on the Ospreys at the Page entrance of Matsqui Trail Park so off I went. On the way past the Matsqui DND Base I thought I spotted an Eastern Kingbird, I turned the truck around to look again and I only found Robins and Starlings. As I approached Matsqui Trail Park I could see that there was a single Osprey in the nest; several days ago I saw two sitting in there. Ospreys by Nick, on Flickr While I wandered around the park she would occasionally call out. When I got back to the truck I could hear another Osprey and way up I spotted another circling but in a somewhat agitated manner. Ospreys by Nick, on Flickr While I stood there photographing the male I spotted a juvenile Bald Eagle and an adult Bald Eagle circle into sight. Was this a dispute over fishing territory? There is a Bald Eagle nest a couple miles down Page Road. The juvenile might have been last years baby. It appeared to be a male who was getting more of the white and gray of an adult Northern Harrier. It was smart enough to know that it did not want to get into the middle of what was going on between the Eagles and the Osprey and it managed to find an air current and glide out of the area. Northern Harrier by Nick, on Flickr I do not know what happened with the Eagles and the Osprey as they all glided further down river. I head home and dropped into the DND Base at Matsqui and found two Western Kingbirds which I posted about earlier.
