I was at Fishtrap Creek Park in Abbotsford this morning and I had just about completed my walk. I was approaching the parking lot next to the covered pier when I noticed family groups pulling in and going over to the baseball park (registration or practice?). In one group that was walking over there a young girl (8-10yrs old) ran from her family picked up a long stick and headed for a pair of Canada Geese who were sitting on the grass next to the path. The expression on her face was one of excitement, there was no doubt of what she wanted to do. I spoke quite sharply to her and it took a 2nd warning before she dropped her stick and ran back to her family group. I was disgusted by the lack of action on the parent's part and likely the fact that she had learned to do this due to bad parenting. Children who will abuse wildlife will also bully other children. I could rant on this for a long time but I said my part.
