Great catch Ed! I was headed up that way but something came up and I called it off, hopefully the weather improves and more come.

Nice one Ed and Ken. I don’t think we’ve had Westerns for a few years in the Valley. Someone posted a photo to the Facebook page of a female Western Bluebird on Sunday, also from the Airport, so they’ve been there a few days. Maybe a couple more? Might be worth checking on.

Nice Ed, That is not the one I was watching, it had a blue head and wing surrounded by orange.

Checked this morning. No Bluebirds
At the sewage lagoon there was a Barrow's Goldeneye, and a flyover flock of Snow Geese.

Thanks, Ed for the update. Made a slight detour early this afternoon and did a brief check. Didn't see any bluebirds but did see a Say's Phoebe at the west end of Yale Street.

A strike out for me as well this afternoon. I saw a Say's Phoebe out in the fields north of the airport near the east end. I stopped to have a really nice visit with Jack at his farm and he also had a phoebe hunting off his fence posts. Also found a flock of seven Common Redpoll which was a nice surprise. It probably won't be long until they've left our area. _0220394 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr

Around 10am the two westerns were seen on the fence line in the field west of what I think is the weather station. I too heard three mountain.

Both Westerns were there this afternoon again. Surprised that they haven't moved on, but the weather hasn't been that nice either though. _0220797 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr On Spring migration three of my favourites to see in open or semi-open habitat are Say's Phoebe, Townsend's Solitaire and Mountain Bluebird. Today I got all three with the Westerns being a bonus. Speaking of firsts, Benny and I found a Common Yellowthroat at the Great Blue Heron Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
