To my fellow birders:
On June 4-9th I and my wife are embarking on an Alaskan Cruise. Our Holland American cruise line will be having layovers at Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Glacier Bay. As for bird species seen and reported up there I have most of them except the Horned Puffin and Fork-tailed Storm Petrel. It’s possible I could see the Kittlitz’s Murrelet or a Leach’s Storm Petrel. What do you think about my analysis so far. Are there any other species you can think of that might be seen there in early summer?

I have the northern fulmar already. I have the Sooty Shearwater and the the Short-tailed Shearwater. I’m not sure what other shearwaters could be found there?? Thx John!

Damian, I remember being surprised to see two Fork-tailed Storm Petrels zooming around the ships and docks at Skagway one summer. No idea what they would be up to but there they were.

Some of the birds I saw in August 2017 were Pomeranian and Parasitic Jaegers, Black-legged Kittiwakes, Cassin’s Auklet, Sabine Gulls, Tufted Puffins, Sooty Shearwater and Red-necked Phalaropes
