Loon at Iona

Hello! Wondering if someone can confirm this is a red-throated loon or direct me to the correct ID? Sorry for the crappy photo quality.. doing my best with bins and a phone.

I'm not sure how common it is to see red-throated or common loons along the coast this time of year.. It sort of came out of knowhere from the mist near the south jetty. I was so excited to actually see something other than a gull that I almost forgot to take a picture

I would go with Red-throated Loon. In my experience, Common Loons are fairly common along the coast but it can be difficult to find a Red-throated Loon.

Yes. Red-throated.

My heart skipped a beat till I saw this was from Iona (on the Ocean) as this loon is rarely seen in the valley
