I could use some help to ID this bird. Yesterday, while Dave and I went for a drive birding along Anderson Sod Farms, south of Hatzic, there was a sparrow-like bird on the wires. Dave took a look and had trouble with the ID as it seems to be a juvenile. DSCF7481_1 by Klaus Molthagen, on Flickr DSCF7485 by Klaus Molthagen, on Flickr I took a couple of pictures of it through my windshield, thinking that it will fly off if I open my door. I checked my pictures on the camera monitor, did not like them, and told Dave to watch the bird as I tried to quietly open the door on my Crosstrek to try for better pictures. Of course, it then flew off , so this is all I got. It seems to have a yellowish throat, buffy belly, yellow and white and black on the wing, and dark tail with sparrow or finch like dark beak. Almost wonder if it might be a grosbeak juvenile. Help please, Thanks, Klaus

The bill is that of a finch, but smaller than grosbeak.
The colors are good for a moulting American Goldfinch. Which is what I think this bird is.

Thanks Jon. The dark colour of the bill and the buffy belly confused me but now I know. Thanks, Klaus
