I had a few errands to do in Agassiz and Hope today so I did a few small birding detours. This morning at the wetlands were a few Bank Swallows among Tree and Barn Swallows. I had five Bullock's Orioles including one young one calling for food. I bumped into a bear on the loop trail path. It was a smaller one and it went straight into the bush.
Hope Airport was fairly quiet but there was a Catbird on the northeast side and two Western Kingbirds at the weather station.

Hi We saw at least five different bears in our back woods this year including a mother and two cubs. We are just a couple kms from the Cheam Wetlands so be careful and make a lot of noise. One was a very large with brown fur. I think it was a Black Bear species but cannot be sure. I also watched a newborn fawn wobbling on its uncertain legs as it followed its mother.
