Last year I was talking to Jeremiah Kennedy at a workshop. He's sure been up to some neat projects mostly with owls of late. It was good to catch up and hear his presentation on said projects. He was asking about Ruffed Grouse recordings from around the Province to see if they differ from area to area. I said I'd try and also put the word out. Today I tried a bit and did manage a recording. They sure can have a long spacing between drums! I used the Voice Record app on my phone. www.macaulaylibrary.org/resources/setting-up-recording-apps/setting-up-recording-apps-for-ios-devices/It worked ok but for the low sound of the grouse at a bit of a distance I fear it might be a bit hard to hear. ebird.org/canada/checklist/S84415319If anyone comes across a drumming grouse (Harrier on his next trail run around Cultus? ) and they can get a recording I'd be happy to put them in touch with Jeremiah.
