Out to Sumas Prairie this morning, cloud cover was heavy but breaks out towards coast. There were many flocks of Crows around, no idea whether they were Northwestern or American, has that been decided yet? I expected their presence might limit the variety of other birds around. Driving south on Dixon nearing Campbell I spotted a flash of white, at first I thought it might be a male Norther Harrier, something I have only seen a few times on the Sumas Prairie. It landed just over a ditch and I figured it must be Gyrfalcon. It was closest I have ever seen one, most of my sighting have been quite distant. I was lucky to get perching shots, with the low light action was not possible without pushing my ISO up very high.
