I was checking out the local news website and I saw that the Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival has been cancelled this year and for the coming years. It was felt it had got too popular and it was hurting more than helping the Bald Eagles. I only attended it one year, and it was way too many people for too small of an area. Of course this means nothing to the Bald Eagles, they will still visit the Fraser Valley to hunt in the Harrison River for salmon, providing the fish are there and the water level is not too high. Since moving out to the Fraser Valley several years ago I have spent hours and hours photographing Bald Eagles during late October/November and early December, this news should change very little for myself and others who enjoy seeing the Eagles. Certain conditions being met they should be there. I should express my appreciation to those organizers of this event as it was the chance to see a large number of Bald Eagles in one area which got me started in Birding 8 years ago.
